AAHANZBS Conference December 2011

The third annual AAHANZBS conference was held at AUT University on 8–9 December 2011. Hosted by the Business and History Labour Group of NZWALMI, conference organiser, Dr Simon Mowatt welcomed guests from Brazil, Australia and New Zealand.

This year, the conference was themed around ‘Change and Control’. It also considered:

  • The role of historical research in developing theoretical perspectives in business and management
  • How historical research aids our understanding of contemporary issues in business and management
  • Teaching history in business and management schools.

The conference was pleased to welcome Professor Howard Cox (University of Worcester, UK) as keynote speaker.  Professor Cox has published significant research in business history and he presented his paper on the history of the UK magazine publishing industry at the opening session.
